[3D Printing Application] New support with multiple dissolution speeds, six times faster!

【3D Printing Applications】New support with wide compatibility, dissolves six times faster!

When 3D printing parts with complex structures, PVA water-soluble filament is often used as a support structure. PVA is primarily compatible with PLA, Tough PLA, Nylon, and CPE filaments. The support can easily dissolve in water, preserving the complete appearance of the main body. But have you ever wondered what to do if you need to use special filaments to make parts that require support, but cannot be printed with PVA? Don't worry, we've got you covered!

Today, we will be using AquaSys ® 120, a water-soluble filament with fast dissolution speed, high adhesion, and high temperature resistance. It is suitable for use as a support structure with ABS, PETG, CPE, Nylon, PC, TPU, and PP filaments.

Using the Ultimaker S5 Pro Bundle 3D printer to print assembly parts, we chose Ultimaker's original ABS filament for the main body and AquaSys for the support. AquaSys has high adhesion and low shrinkage, allowing it to adhere tightly to the build plate during 3D printing, reducing warping when printing with special filaments.

PVA and AquaSys filaments are both fully water-soluble. Generally, to speed up PVA dissolution, it is soaked in running water. However, AquaSys is special in that it dissolves quickly simply by soaking in still water.

(AquaSys ® 120 filament can be used with high-temperature resistant filaments and dissolves most rapidly in tap water at 70-80°C.)

When AquaSys is first immersed in water, it quickly dissolves into a translucent amber yellow, forming thick, stringy particles, and then the main body previously enveloped by the support becomes visible. It dissolves quickly without the need for solvents or manual removal. The separated parts will eventually float to the surface. Dissolving the support is effortless and time-saving. PVA typically takes three hours to dissolve, while AquaSys can dissolve in as little as thirty minutes, which is six times faster!

Water-soluble filament will not damage the 3D model during the dissolution process, and the surface of the finished product after the support is completely dissolved is very smooth and even. AquaSys can be paired with a variety of filaments, is temperature-resistant, and has high adhesion, making it suitable for manufacturing industrial parts such as assembly components and interlocking parts that require low error and high precision.
