【3D SCANNING】EINSTAR Vega Unboxing: Versatile All-in-One 3D Scanner for Professionals and Hobbyists
EINSTAR, a subsidiary of SHINING 3D, has been providing high-precision 3D scanning technology since 2004.
With over 300 patents, the company operates globally, with offices in the USA, Europe, and Asia.
Their laboratories are certified for precise calibration, serving various industries worldwide.
EINSTAR Vega is an exciting and user-friendly all-in-one device that makes 3D scanning accessible to a wide new target audience.
Unboxing and First Impressions of EINSTAR Vega
The device comes in a simple box containing the power supply, a stand, a wrist strap, a small test figurine, and a bag with the scanner and other accessories.
In this bag, you'll find the scanner itself, already protected in a practical sleeve, a high-quality handheld tripod, a USB-C cable, a shoulder strap for the bag, and a calibration board with stickers.
All accessories give a high-quality impression and surpass the quality of common accessories in this product category.
The scanner itself, with its titanium grey magnesium alloy casing, gives an extremely high-quality impression and is very compact.
Despite its small size, it is equipped with a high-quality 6.4-inch 2K AMOLED display for intuitive operation via an extremely sensitive touchscreen.

User Experience
The VEGA’s all-in-one system combines two 3D scanning technologies: infrared MEMS for long-range scanning and for close-range scanning.
These two technologies can be used in two modes:
"HD Mode" is particularly suitable for smaller objects that require precise detail capture.
"Fast Mode" is designed for larger objects, allowing quick capture of their geometry.
HD mode is for small to medium-sized objects, while Fast mode is for larger objects.

The EINSTAR VEGA offers wireless scanning and an ergonomic design, weighing a light 535 grams. The ability to operate the scanner without a laptop or powerful computer is particularly useful.
This is thanks to the integrated 5000mAh battery, large display, wireless connectivity, and powerful processor, making the scanner ideal for mobile use.
This makes working in places where a computer is difficult to use or impractical, such as workshops or outdoors, much easier.
In our tests, the battery lasted about 1.5 hours. If needed, an external power bank can supplement the integrated battery.
Powerful hardware such as the 6.4-inch AMOLED display and 48MP camera complement the built-in storage and processing capabilities. SHINING 3D Cloud supports data storage and collaboration.
The entire package offers an intuitive user interface, allowing users to quickly and easily switch between different modes and perform calibration.
A calibration board is included, and regular calibration of the scanner is recommended, especially after changes in lighting conditions or prolonged transport.
The one-click edit mode allows you to edit and view scan results directly on the device.
The accompanying software "StarVision" allows you to import scan data to your PC. Tests showed that the scans are very rich in detail, capturing even fine structures. The accuracy is in the range of a tenth of a millimeter.
The software also offers the ability to align multiple scans and generate meshes. It can export in common formats such as OBJ, STL, or PLY.
Conclusion
The EINSTAR Vega is a powerful mobile 3D scanner. Its all-in-one functionality makes it particularly attractive for users who need to work flexibly, such as when capturing automotive parts on-site.
The ease of use, good scanning quality, and the ability to edit directly on the device make the Vega an interesting option for many 3D scanning applications and a good complement to 3D printing.
A steady hand is required for continuous scanning, as there is no single-shot function. Nevertheless, image capture is better than other scanners tested, so this is not considered a disadvantage.
Overall, the Vega offers an impressive user experience.
