【3D Printing News】New Twist for Year-End Banquets and Spring Dinners: Soar into the New Year!
Do you remember the "Kaohsiung Dagang Maker Festival" we shared before? In addition to the absorbent coaster making experience (Extended reading: Make absorbent coasters on-site, free experience in Kaohsiung!), the "Soaring to the Sky" competition game on stage was also a huge hit. This helicopter is great for both raffles and competitions, and we've included the download link at the end of the article again!
This propeller helicopter, which can be completed with a single 3D print, flies very smoothly using a pull string and can reach nearly three stories high outdoors.Each part of this helicopter is a separate entity, so they must be printed individually. However, since thePrusa i3 MK3S has a printing area of up to 25 cm, all parts can be arranged neatly and printed in one go.
After 3D printing, assembly is super simple. Just attach the propeller and the launcher pull rod. The two are interconnected by a gear structure; by quickly pulling out the string, the propeller will spin rapidly and lift off with the airflow, similar to beyblades and bamboo-copters from childhood.
To meet the high demand of the "Dagang Maker Festival," we not only used the Prusa i3 MK3S 3D printer but also simultaneously used the Ultimaker S3 to complete the task within the time limit.
Both 3D printers worked smoothly after printing and support removal. The Prusa i3 MK3S, priced under 50,000 NTD, is definitely a high-value entry-level choice; the industrial-grade Ultimaker S3 features a dual-extrusion system, resulting in a smoother and more refined print surface.
We printed in various colors to identify whose helicopter flew the highest in the competition. Everyone frantically and quickly pulled the string, and the strongest "Soaring to the Sky" helicopter won the grand prize at the year-end banquet!
