[Laser Processing Application] Engraving and Cutting Made Easy with the MUSE Laser Processing Machine!

【Laser Processing Application】Engraving and Cutting Made Easy with the MUSE Laser Engraving Machine!

The unboxing article you've all been waiting for is here! What can the brand new MUSE laser engraving machine from the US do? Cutting, lettering, and engraving are all a breeze. Following our last user case study (Further reading: Mass Production of Handmade Jewelry - Ann's Jewelry & Décor), we're back to unbox and test it!

The MUSE laser engraving machine, which traveled across the ocean, comes in a wooden crate. After opening the crate, there's a cardboard box and foam inside, ensuring the product arrives safely in the customer's hands.

Inside the cardboard box, you'll find a quick user manual. Make sure to read the instructions carefully before starting. Remove all the foam and open the dedicated RetinaEngrave v2 laser engraving software online. You can use it directly in your browser, no download required!

We downloaded a free design online (Further reading: Free Resources Unveiled! Top 5 3D Model Libraries are Here!) – a "Do Not Disturb" door hanger for testing. You can freely scale and preview the cutting area in the RetinaEngrave v2 software interface. The right panel allows you to adjust the precision or intensity of the laser processing. The overall operation is intuitive and easy to understand.

Without further ado, let's start testing. The MUSE laser engraving and cutting speed is very fast. This 30cm hanger can be completed in about 10 minutes.

The wood board used this time is about 3mm thick. The laser cutting is clean and precise, easily separating from the waste material with a gentle push. The engraving is also very complete.

The actual flat surface for laser processing is about 50x30 cm. If larger dimensions are needed, the MUSE can even be used independently by detaching the base plate, eliminating limitations on height and area. For example, an entire door panel can be engraved using a拼接 method. Below the image, you can see the metal honeycomb board, which prevents the laser cutting beam from directly hitting the base plate, similar to the concept of an art cutting mat. Make sure to place it under the cutting area before use.

We tested the effects of different power settings on wood. The common problem of charring can be solved by adjusting the power and speed. Since wood contains moisture and oil, high-power laser heating can cause burn marks. In comparison, using lower power multiple times and completing it quickly can achieve a cleaner result.

In addition, testing various materials is essential. We engraved the words "THIS SIDE UP" on the glass plate of the Ultimaker 3D printer, making it easy for engineers to understand at a glance, eliminating the need for re-evaluation each time the glass is changed.

All colleagues' belongings were brought to the front line for support. The boss's metal business card holder instantly gained a higher quality and became a customized item after engraving the company logo; engraving on the dedicated aluminum ruler is also fine, so there's no need to worry about losing it anymore.

This MUSE laser engraving machine can be used for various materials such as paper, wood, leather, glass, acrylic, and for engraving on metal surfaces. Besides testing various materials, precision is also a major focus of laser processing. We engraved fonts of different sizes, from large to small, on both wood and acrylic materials to compare the different effects.

The font sizes range from 20pt to 2pt, with the smallest font being about 0.7mm high. It can still display the 3DMart logo, though it's so small that cameras have difficulty focusing. Based on current internal test samples, the quality of the MUSE laser engraving machine is more than sufficient for applications. You can also see these samples at our booth S423 at the 3D Printing Exhibition!

In addition to the demonstrations above, the MUSE laser processing machine can also be equipped with an optional rotary axis, allowing for engraving on curved surfaces like glass cups. Its functions are powerful and diverse, making it convenient and practical. More exciting demonstrations of CNC milling machines, vacuum forming machines, etc., have also been recently announced!
