【Vacuum Forming Application】Even Italians are Crazy About It: Traditional Chocolate Undergoes Transformation!
Pine trees are precious mascots in Italy. Many local boutiques draw inspiration from pinecones and pine trees for their designs, and now you can easily make them too! For Easter, a Sicilian chocolate factory combined 3D printing and vacuum forming technologies to save time and effort in the production process. They launched a pinecone-shaped chocolate modeled after a ceramic art piece. Read on to learn more!
The Bonajuto chocolate factory, with over 150 years of history, has long used traditional handcrafted methods to produce various chocolates, with strict quality control from cocoa bean grinding to dessert making. Now, by integrating new technologies, they are creating new flavors, and the factory's production process is gradually transforming.

First, to create the dessert mold, a pine tree model is 3D printed using Ultimaker. Common 3D printing filaments such as PLA, Tough PLA, and ABS can be used to quickly print without support structures.
If you were to use a complete pine tree model, there would be difficulties in demolding the top and bottom when creating the mold. By 3D printing half of the structure, and then using a FormBox vacuum forming machine to make the chocolate in two halves, you can then insert your favorite toys or cookies. Finally, assemble the chocolate shells to create a pinecone-shaped Easter egg, and you decide what surprise goes inside!

(Place the 3D model into the FormBox vacuum forming machine and use food-safe certified clear casting sheets for molding. The vacuum suction is strong and fast, forming the chocolate mold in just 3 seconds of pressing!)
In food manufacturing, silicone is often used to make product molds. Now, you can directly create molds using a vacuum forming machine, and they can be demolded instantly, which is very convenient. Don't worry if you want different dessert flavors; the vacuum forming machine allows for rapid and unlimited reproduction.
After the model's preliminary work is complete, pour the melted chocolate into the mold. At this point, you can choose to make a solid shape or hollow it out. Then, place the chocolate-filled molds into the refrigerator to cool.

Once cooled, the chocolate can be easily demolded. Then, add your favorite snacks as a little surprise egg, and join the two pieces of chocolate together. Your Easter dessert is complete, ready to be given to friends for a delightful surprise!
On special holidays, unleash your creativity by combining 3D printing and vacuum forming technologies. Not only can you easily and infinitely replicate various styles or quantities at home, but when applied to product development for dessert shops, it can also effectively save production time and costs.
