[Vacuum Forming] Mayku Competition Winner Revives Discontinued Motorcycle Parts?

【Pressure Forming】Mayku Multiplier Firmware Update! Creating a More Flexible and Convenient User Experience!

Mayku previously held a competition for the Multiplier project, where participants had the chance to win £500 worth of sheets and a Reducing Plate! The Reducing Plate integrates perfectly with the Mayku Multiplier, compressing the Multiplier's forming area to A4 or US letter format, thus providing access to hundreds of sheet suppliers worldwide and reducing waste!

Multiplier Project Competition

Announcing the winner now!

Congratulations to Mayku Multiplier user Jonathan Hernandez for his entry: a motorcycle under-seat tray made with 3mm HIPS sheet material.

This piece was made for a client who wanted to revive a popular, discontinued motorcycle part. The creation process involved 3D scanning the original tray before 3D printing the tool. After forming with the Mayku Multiplier, the edges were cleaned up using a Dremel hand tool with a sanding drum attachment to complete the final product.

A total of 50 trays were produced — Mayku is delighted that the Multiplier was used to create parts that are no longer visible! Could this lead to a resurgence in replicating old items?!!

What else can the Mayku Multiplier desktop pressure former do?

The Mayku Multiplier is dubbed "the world's first desktop pressure former"! Unlike traditional vacuum forming, it uses pressure to make the plastic sheet tightly conform to the mold surface, while using a heat source to soften the plastic, and finally cooling and solidifying it into shape. This pressure forming can be applied to complex three-dimensional shapes, and because of the heating step, it is also known as thermoforming. Thermoforming is used in a wide range of manufacturing processes for various products, including the following industries:

Mayku Multiplier Pressure Former and Finished Products

• Automotive and Transportation
Thermoforming is widely used in the automotive and transportation industries to produce internal and external parts. These parts are made from materials such as ABS, which can withstand high temperatures and pressures.

• Medical Devices and Equipment
Thermoforming is an ideal process for manufacturing medical devices and equipment. It can provide sterilizable, durable, lightweight, and precise parts.

• Packaging and Displays
Thermoforming is widely used in the packaging and display industries. These parts are typically made from materials such as PETG, HIPS and PVC, offering transparency and excellent impact resistance.

• Electrical and Electronic Equipment
Thermoforming is an ideal solution for producing electrical and electronic components. It provides lightweight, strong, and heat-resistant parts with precision and consistency.

• Consumer Goods
Thermoforming is a cost-effective method for producing consumer goods with intricate details and tight tolerances. It is an ideal solution for manufacturers who need to meet high standards.

• Industrial Equipment
Thermoforming is widely used in many industries and is a key method for prototyping and manufacturing application-specific parts.

What is the Mayku Multiplier Reducing Plate?

Unlock a New World of Materials and Reduce Waste with the Reducing Plate

By seamlessly integrating with the Mayku Multiplier, the Reducing Plate effectively shrinks the forming area to A4 or US letter format. This reduction provides access to a multitude of sheet suppliers worldwide specializing in straight-cut sheets, making it easier to source specific or specialized materials.

Furthermore, when forming smaller parts, the Reducing Plate minimizes material waste, ensuring precise use of materials. Because it uses less material, it also reduces the likelihood of curling on the final part.

With the Reducing Plate, you can also start forming thicker materials (over 5mm thick), allowing you to create rock-solid, finely detailed parts with a variety of different materials.

On the other end, the Reducing Plate can use extremely thin materials, down to 100 microns, enabling ultra-fine film applications!
