【FormBoxVacuum Applications】Upgraded防疫面罩, Replaceable and Cleanable Filter!
The COVID-19 (Wuhan pneumonia) pandemic is still ongoing. Even after the implementation of the mask rationing system 3.0, are you still unable to get a mask? Don't worry, the "FormBox vacuum forming machine" can also quickly produce protective face shields, effectively saving usage while maintaining good filtration! The steps are super simple and convenient; watch the full process here (download link included):
Prepare three materials:
1. 3D printed mask outer and inner shell models (download link at the end of the article)
2. Vacuum-formed inner shell and filter mesh outer shell
3. Replaceable mask filter fabric

We used the Ultimaker S5 Pro Bundle 3D printer to create the mask model, and then the FormBox vacuum forming machine to produce the mask shell. After heating and pressing the material sheet in the FormBox, the mask mold can be completed in just a few seconds!

During the vacuum forming process with the FormBox, you can gently press the edges of the object to make the material sheet and the mold fit more closely. Note that the temperature of the ceramic heater (160°C - 340°C) will make the material sheet hot, so you can use a pencil or handkerchief to operate it without getting burned!

Use an ultrasonic cutter or utility knife to cut out the shapes from the two vacuum-formed 3D mask material sheets; then cut the filter fabric and elastic cords from a regular mask. One mask can provide two filter pieces, and the elastic cords can also be reused with the vacuum-formed mask.

The inner layer of the mask will be in direct and prolonged contact with the face, so special care must be taken when selecting materials! We use FormBox's food-safe, body-contact approved clear cast sheets for the inner layer, and white material sheets for the outer layer. After vacuum forming, the original shape can be easily removed, and the two material sheets fit together perfectly.

Once all materials are ready, simply use the elastic cords to secure the inner and outer layers of the mask and the filter fabric, and you're done!
