【Pressure Forming】Is Maintenance Really That Important? Mayku Multiplier Daily Maintenance Guide!

Do pressure forming machines also require maintenance? What's the difference between scheduled maintenance and infrequent maintenance? How often should it be done? If you've purchased or are interested in pressure forming, you might have these questions. For users, the most important thing is to maintain high-quality manufacturing, and that means keeping your Multiplier in optimal condition. This article details the maintenance schedule and procedures. Please note: This schedule assumes an annual usage frequency of 2,500 forming cycles.

Tip: If the frequency of use is higher, it is recommended to perform maintenance more frequently to ensure optimal forming results.

Weekly Tasks:

Clean the seal

The Multiplier has a rubber seal that maintains pressurized air inside the dome during molding. The seal is located on the inner rim of the forming chamber, and it is very important to keep it clean and free of any debris, as even a small amount of debris can create a gap. If a gap is created, an airtight seal cannot be formed, causing the sheet material to sag and making it difficult to close the lid. If this happens, thoroughly clean the seal and attempt to form again.

Gently wipe the seal in a circular motion with a damp microfiber cloth. Ensure the seal is properly seated in the dome; an airtight seal is crucial for optimal performance. Wipe away any excess moisture with a clean microfiber cloth.

A deep clean is recommended every 40 cycles or weekly, depending on user frequency. A maintenance prompt will appear on the screen when the seal needs cleaning. For deep cleaning, it is recommended to use IPA and a microfiber cloth.

Clean the baseplate

Equipment:

• Torx head hex key
• Microfiber cloth
• Isopropyl alcohol

To clean the baseplate, follow these steps:

1) Locate the screws holding the baseplate in place.
2) Use a hex key to loosen the screws and remove the baseplate.
3) Clean the baseplate using a microfiber cloth and some isopropyl alcohol to remove any dirt or debris.
4) After cleaning, reinstall the baseplate and tighten the screws.

Handle the screws carefully and avoid overtightening them during reinstallation. This process helps maintain the performance of the Mayku Multiplier.
It is recommended to clean the baseplate every 70 cycles or weekly, depending on user frequency. A maintenance prompt will appear on the screen when the baseplate needs cleaning.

Check the heater for cracks or signs of malfunction

The heater is located inside and at the top of the dome. It is recommended to use a flashlight for a clear view.
Open the Multiplier's lid and check inside the dome with a flashlight. Never attempt to repair any cracks; if there are cracks, please contact 3DMart.

Monthly Tasks:

Drain Tank

It is recommended to regularly drain the tank to prevent moisture accumulation and rust. These tanks are made of stainless steel for rust resistance, but if not emptied regularly, moisture can build up and eventually enter the Multiplier dome.
The recommended cleaning frequency is every 100 cycles or monthly, depending on user frequency. A maintenance prompt will appear on the screen when the tank needs draining, providing step-by-step guidance.

Moisture will be released from below the valve, so keep the area clean or place a tray to catch moisture deposits. The release is loud, so remember to use eye and ear protection.

Equipment:

• Noise protection (ear muffs)
• Eye protection

You can also drain the water tank without waiting for the maintenance prompt to appear on the screen. Here are two options:

1) Initiate water tank draining via the control panel

• Navigate to the main menu and select Maintenance
• Follow the on-screen instructions to start the draining process

2) Manually drain the tank

Locate the overpressure valve and pull down the ring (M). A pencil can help trigger the valve. This action will start the draining process. Please note that pulling the ring will produce a loud noise, and your hands may get wet from the water release.

Exercise caution when performing a manual drain, and ensure you are prepared for the noise and potential water mist.

Recommended to regularly drain the water tank

Clean the temperature sensor

Equipment:

• Air gun
• Cotton swab

To clean the temperature sensor, follow these steps:

1) Use dry compressed air to blow away any debris or obstructions from the sensor. This will help ensure accurate temperature readings and optimal performance.

2) If there is stubborn residue or dirt on the sensor, use a cotton swab to gently wipe the sensor, being careful not to apply excessive force.

By regularly cleaning the temperature sensor, you can maintain its functionality and ensure accurate temperature measurements during operation.

Clean the reflector

The reflector is located inside and at the top of the dome. It is recommended to use a flashlight for a clear view. It is recommended to clean every 30 cycles or monthly, depending on user frequency.

Open the Multiplier's lid and check inside the dome with a flashlight. Excessive plastic dust or residue on the heater will appear cloudy white and should be cleaned immediately.

Equipment:

• Flashlight
• Microfiber cloth
• Isopropyl alcohol

To clean the reflector of the Mayku Multiplier, follow these steps:

1) Ensure the bulb is cool and safe to touch. Allow the machine to sit idle for some time before cleaning.

2) Gently clean the reflector surface using a microfiber cloth and some isopropyl alcohol. The soft and lint-free nature of the microfiber cloth helps prevent scratches or damage to the reflector.

3) When cleaning, be careful to avoid direct contact with the heater. Direct contact with the heater can cause damage or affect its performance.
  1.
  2. It is recommended to keep the Multiplier's lid closed when not in use to prevent dust from entering. By regularly cleaning the reflector with a microfiber cloth, you can keep it clean and ensure efficient heat distribution during the forming process.

Lubricate the guide rails

If you notice that the guide rails of your Mayku Multiplier are dry and making a grinding sound, they may need lubrication. Here are the recommended steps for lubricating the guide rails:

1) Use a microfiber cloth to ensure the guide rails are clean and free of any debris or dirt, then move the lid up and down a few times.

2) For this purpose, apply a small amount of a lithium-based lubricant specifically designed for this to the guide rails. This lubricant will help reduce friction and eliminate the grinding sound.

Important Note: Avoid using dry lubricants such as PTFE powder or graphite powder with recirculating ball or roller bearings. These lubricants are suitable for sliding friction but have limited benefits for rolling friction. We recommend using Loctite synthetic grease SuperLUBE tube.

By properly lubricating the guide rails with lithium-based lubricant, you can ensure smooth operation and optimal performance of your Mayku Multiplier. We hope this maintenance guide helps you better maintain your Multiplier and ensures it runs in optimal condition!
