3DMart will be participating in the Taipei Cycle show from 10/31 to 11/3! Remember to hurry and visit the exhibition to get free gifts! Besides 3D printers with three different technologies, what other new and exciting things will be showcased this time? Let's take a look!
Everyone saw track toys as a child, and probably wanted them but didn't have enough pocket money back then. Now with 3D printers, you can make whatever you want, and even take on the challenge of customizing complex roller coaster tracks! What do you need for this, based on the principle? The track body, an upward-moving spiral axle, a control panel for the spiral axle, and an additional mysterious guest – a slow motor. Let's first look at the manual results:

How is this made? First, import the file into Cura to analyze the track body. It can automatically determine and generate support material, and calculate the printing time. The screen shows an estimated printing time of over three days, and the actual printing time was almost identical.

The new Cura 3.5 has many new features, and our actual tests confirm it's easier to use. Not only does it support 3D printers other than Ultimaker, it also adds various new materials and preference settings, and it's free! For more software details, you can refer to our previous article introducing Cura 3.5.

After three days of 3D printing, the roller coaster track body is finally complete! This time, we used an Ultimaker 3 dual-extrusion 3D printer, printing the main body with PLA and supports with PVA. After printing, the track body was simply placed in water, and the PVA dissolved automatically. This lazy-friendly post-processing method has become a new favorite among our engineers, allowing you to prototype elegantly, leave work on time, and avoid rushing or being pushed for deadlines!

Dissolving the support material takes about a day, and the speed can be doubled with an aerator in the water tank! Doesn't it look like a landscape decoration in an aquarium?

After 3D printing the other parts, combine the control panel at the bottom right of the image with the middle tenon, and attach the spiral axis on the far left; the key control components are now complete.

The assembled result is very satisfying, and even the editor had a great time playing with it. Thanks to Ultimaker's printing quality, we even 3D printed the marbles themselves. Just turn the control panel and the marbles will keep rolling on the track!

Is it finished? The engineers weren't satisfied yet, and finally modified it with a motor, allowing the marble track to rotate automatically and continuously. The marble roller coaster was the toy we most wanted as children, so hurry up and 3D print your own personalized one!

All engineers and Makers can design and play with more complex track versions. It's very therapeutic after connecting the motor. Come visit us directly at booth G0358a in Hall 3 of the World Trade Center from 10/31 to 11/3. Not only can you see it spinning non-stop at the exhibition, but you can also get a free exquisite gift!
