【3D SCANNING】Replicating Discontinued Porsche Sports Cars, Peel 3D Reverse Engineering is Twice as Fast!
Replicating discontinued Porsche sports cars! The Peel 3D scanner offers twice the efficiency for left-right replication. Porsche is a German automobile manufacturer, renowned worldwide for producing and selling a large number of sports cars, SUVs, and sedans globally. To replicate the appearance of classic car models, Porsche has integrated engineering technologies such as 3D printing, 3D scanning, and CNC milling machines to undertake this major project!
Replicating a car model that is about to be discontinued presents certain challenges. In the past, car structures and parts were mostly made of steel. Now, to reproduce them, both the difficulty and the time and monetary costs are very high. Traditionally, car parts were made directly on the car body, and the finished products were repeatedly used to duplicate molds. However, this process was chaotic and complex, and consistent accuracy could not be guaranteed.
Industrial designer Patrick Nguyen and his design team, Patritti Design Performance, specialize in using composite materials to replicate and produce car body panels. This time, they collaborated with the Peel 3D scanning team to participate in this intricate large-scale reverse engineering project, which requires extremely sophisticated skills.
"The Peel 3D scanner can not only 3D scan large objects and accurately capture the subtle, geometric, and streamlined shapes of cars, but Peel 3D's dedicated post-processing software also features precise editing functions and professional algorithms, allowing for rapid generation of smooth, non-rough model surfaces," said Patrick Nguyen.
Cars mostly have symmetrical exteriors. When using a Peel 3D scanner to create a car model, you only need to scan the right side of the car body. Then, by executing the "mirror" function, the left side of the car model will be generated instantly. The operation is very simple, and the work efficiency is twice as fast! For reflective metal car bodies and parts, you can also pre-spray them with 3D scanning spray powder to ensure smooth 3D scanning. Finally, the car model generated through reverse engineering is converted into a CAD model. Then, using technologies such as 3D printing and CNC milling machines, the material type is selected according to requirements, and mass production is carried out. This successfully saves production time and costs, creating unlimited benefits for businesses in industrial applications.
