[3D Printing News] The Ultimate Combo: New Composite Filaments X Ultra Wear-Resistant Ruby Nozzle!

【3D Printing News】The Strongest Combination: New Composite Filament X Ultra Wear-Resistant Ruby Nozzle!

Ultimaker is the world's first 3D printer manufacturer to collaborate with leading material companies, offering customers a wider variety of materials while eliminating the hassle of using external products.

Ultimaker collaborates with leading material companies like Owens Corning and DSM to offer the perfect combination for high-performance composite materials. Setup files for Owens Corning XSTRAND™ and DSM Novamid® materials will also be available in Ultimaker Cura; and the new wear-resistant print core for the Ultimaker S5 enables stable printing of composite materials.

.New Composite Material – 3D Print Core

To make composite materials easier to print, the new 3D print core CC Red 0.6 has been launched.
Developed in collaboration with Anders Olsson, the 3D print core features a precision-machined 0.6 mm diameter nozzle with a specially customized geometry. The print nozzle uses an ultra-wear-resistant ruby cone, enabling stable 3D printing with composite materials. The package also includes four spare Ultimaker S5 nozzle covers for long-term use.

Together with the profiles in Ultimaker Cura, this interchangeable print core will allow external materials to achieve perfect results, as simply and easily as using original Ultimaker materials. There's no need to manually set print parameters, nor worry if your print head can withstand wear and tear – the print core CC Red is built for lifetime wear-resistant 3D printing.

˙Owens Corning XSTRAND™

Owens Corning, a global leader in fiberglass composites for 3D printing labs in France and the United States, responded to customer demand; Owens Corning and Ultimaker collaborated to develop new Ultimaker S5 print filaments for XSTRAND™ GF30-PP and XSTRAND™ GF30-PA6.

The glass fiber material ensures a more stable print with good chemical and UV resistance, and the ability to withstand high operating temperatures.
Dr. Chris Skinner, VP of Strategic Marketing for Composites at Owens Corning, explained: "Due to the high performance and stability of Ultimaker 3D printers, we decided to partner with Ultimaker and will provide perfect built-in settings for Ultimaker Cura."

˙DSM Novamid®

Engineering plastics specialist DSM is also developing a filament for its Novamid®ID1030CF
10, a new polyamide for 3D printed parts whose performance is close to what is usually only achievable through injection molding. This material contains 10% carbon fiber, producing stronger, tougher, and stiffer 3D printed products, with print speeds comparable to regular plastic filaments; its high strength even makes it an optimal choice for demanding automotive parts or prototyping applications.

Hugo da Silva, Vice President of Additive Manufacturing at DSM, stated: "By partnering with Ultimaker, we can offer simple, barrier-free solutions because their software and the Ultimaker S5 are fully compatible with our materials, allowing for the creation of higher standard parts."

˙Fully Upgraded Ultimaker S5

"Collaborating with these leading material experts will enhance the future performance of every Ultimaker S5, and there are even more possibilities," said Jos Burger, CEO of Ultimaker.
The new material profiles and print cores provide Ultimaker users with superior print quality and easier operation and setup when using the world's best 3D printing materials.
Over time, more leading brands will provide compatible file settings and composite materials and plastics for Ultimaker Cura, offering more material choices for professional applications ranging from prototyping to end-use parts.

Isn't the new technological advancement exciting! Even better, 3DMart will also start providing the latest 3D print core CC Red and new filaments simultaneously starting mid-November 2018.
