【3D Printing】PRUSA and ALBI Collaborate to Launch the Board Game "Collision Derby"!

This doesn't surprise PRUSA – they are board game enthusiasts themselves.
Now, they can finally perfectly combine these two passions.
Thanks to the collaboration between Czech board game publisher Albi and PRUSA, a long-held dream has come true with the launch of "Collision Derby" –
a board game designed specifically for the 3D printing community.
Over three years ago, PRUSA shared a booth with Albi at the Spiel game fair in Essen, Germany – Spiel being the world's largest board game exhibition.
At that time, they were already discussing collaborating on a game: one built from the ground up around 3D printing technology.
At the same time, they didn't want it to be "only playable with a 3D printer."
The goal was to develop a game that would work perfectly even without a 3D printer, while also allowing players to experience the new joys brought by 3D printing technology in a fun way.
Ultimately, both parties chose a solution that combined the best of both worlds: the game itself (with car models printed for the base box) works perfectly, while also being easily expandable through 3D printing.
This opens the door to upgrades, new ideas, and community engagement through printable content.
Testing Phase
After Spiel 2022, Albi sent PRUSA the first game concepts over the next few months.
Some were excellent, but one clearly stood out – a racing game with crash elements.
The game didn't even have a name then, but it immediately captivated them just from the paper design.
Game Content
"Collision Derby" is a racing game for the whole family, combining strategy with thrilling action.
Each player drives their own car, aiming to move across the board as quickly as possible –
but this time, the goal isn't to be the first to cross the finish line.
Your mission is to collect four flags scattered across the board before your opponents.
Of course, these vehicles are also equipped with an arsenal of weapons, which can cause significant trouble for other players.
You can interfere with opponents, destroy their upgrades, and disrupt their carefully planned cornering lines (the game even rewards you for it).
And because the flag areas attract cars the most, collisions are almost inevitable.
The most striking feature of the game is the "steering wheel" on the player panel: a mechanical device composed of three gears.
You need to plan your actions in advance and place them into these gears.
But at the end of each round, the gears rotate – so if your plan is not well thought out, your car will start to act "on its own" uncontrollably.
This is also the fun of the game: you need to think ahead, but also remain flexible, because other players will constantly interfere with your plans.
The result is a fast-paced, highly interactive adventure where strategy often devolves into utter chaos.
Cars collide, shoot, and dodge at the last moment, turning the entire track into a frantic derby arena where anything can change in a single turn of the wheel.
This game is suitable for 2-4 players, with a fast pace, and a round usually lasts about an hour.
The rules are clearly written and easy for even younger players to understand, so it is recommended for players aged 10 and above.
Currently, you can find three printable car models and a steering wheel-shaped player panel on the Printables website. But
this is just the beginning – the game will receive more support in the future.
They plan to hold design competitions and invite the Printables community to participate.
Some competitions will focus on aesthetic design, but larger competitions will also involve game design, aiming to create complete standalone expansion packs.
They believe "Collision Derby" is a platform that the community can build upon, developing it into something bigger and better.
