[3D Printing Application] Snapmaker 2.0 Dual Extruder Arrives! Enhanced Functions

【3D Printing Applications】Snapmaker 2.0 Dual Extruder is Here! Supports Multi-Material, High-Quality 20mm³/s Flow!
Snapmaker announced the Snapmaker 2.0 Dual Extrusion 3D Printing Module in September 2022. Good news for those who previously used a single extruder! Your creations will no longer be limited!

Supports over 10 types of filaments
The dual extruder opens up a whole new world! Exquisite print quality, fine details. Combine PVA and TPU objects. It's like a curious child exploring a new world! The two independent nozzles can heat up to 300°C, allowing for a wider range of materials. We all know how painful it is to remove support material! Don't let it ruin your fun. You can load a roll of water-soluble PVA filament, dissolve it in water, and it's as beautiful as the envisioned product. You can even do the same with HIPS and breakaway support filament, achieving twice the result with half the effort! Additionally, the nozzles can be easily removed in 5 seconds, and engineering materials such as PA-CF and PA-GF can also be added to the software. Luban will automatically identify the nozzle you are using and prepare the print parameters for use. Note: When purchasing the Snapmaker 2.0 Dual Extrusion 3D Printing Module, it comes with a 500g roll of breakaway filament and a filament holder. Enjoy the fun of multi-material printing!

Perfect extrusion, 20mm³/s flow rate, and high-quality printed objects
Everyone is curious about the print quality after switching to a dual extruder. This is related to the internal structure of the module. The 7.5:1 planetary gear transmits power from the motor with greater torque. This allows a relatively small motor to achieve the required pulling force. By shedding unnecessary weight, the print head experiences less movement at the same acceleration, thus maintaining the same printing accuracy as a single extruder module.

Four-fan cooling system for heatsinks and prints
Besides removing supports, the second pain point is picking out fine filament debris from jammed nozzles. Each hotend has a dedicated fan that blows the necessary air from the blower, preventing the filament from melting prematurely in the heatsink. Another set of fans is located on the bottom right and left, keeping the nozzles and printed objects cool. Therefore, whether printing an overhang object, ABS, PA, or other materials, you can adjust the fan speed yourself.

3s electronically driven hotend switching
On other dual extrusion printers, switching can be time-consuming. How does Snapmaker achieve 2 nozzles in one module? Initially, the entire module was lifted, bumped on a lever, and the nozzle could be removed. However, every time the nozzle needed to switch to another, it made an unusual noise, which was not ideal for the user experience. Therefore, the effective method is to use motors for switching. When your G-code tells the motor to replace the hotend, the motor will ask the linear rail to do the heavy lifting. After the nozzle is replaced, the printing process can continue. This can be completed in 3 seconds with a repeatability of 0.012mm.

Compatibility with various nozzle sizes
To print faster, you can adjust the nozzle size parameters in Luban. Print the outer shell with a 0.2mm nozzle at a lower speed, making it not only sturdy but also aesthetically pleasing. Print infill with a 0.6mm or 0.8mm nozzle, which will be much faster. The touchscreen can also adjust parameters such as print speed, temperature, and flow rate during the printing process.

Automatic leveling
Suppose you lose your calibration card, don't worry. On your heated platform, from the first point to the last, the sensor module automatically acquires data for each positioning point, and there's no need to worry about Z-axis height calibration; the photoelectric switch will handle this. The Snapmaker 2.0 Dual Extrusion 3D Printing Module has proximity switches and photoelectric switches. However, the photoelectric switch is only for Z-offset calibration. If the photoelectric switch were used for mesh bed leveling, the Snapmaker 2.0's platform would slightly deform after the nozzle contacts the build plate, reducing the accuracy of mesh bed leveling. Glass plates are only compatible with 2.0 in manual leveling mode.

Power-off and filament runout recovery
The Snapmaker 2.0 Dual Extrusion 3D Printing Module supports power-off and filament runout recovery. Follow the instructions on the touchscreen to resume printing. If only one nozzle is used for printing, once filament runout is detected, the working nozzle will stop, and the non-working nozzle will not interrupt the machine. If two nozzles are used for printing, the machine will shut down once filament runout is detected in either nozzle.
