[3D Printing Application] 3D Printed Surprise Eggs! Out pops a mini posable excavator!

【3D Printing Application】3D Print an "Surprise Egg"! A Mini Movable Excavator Pops Out!

We all ate Kinder Surprise Eggs when we were kids. 3DMART is also going to print its own adult version of a 3D printed surprise egg! Not only does it require no support structures, but it's also the size of a ten-dollar coin, and the excavator's parts are movable! Let's take a look:

For this project, we used an Ultimaker S5 with a 0.25mm nozzle for 3D printing. The printing time was approximately 3 hours, and the material chosen was PLA. Since the Ultimaker S5 uses a dual-nozzle system, when printing with a single material, we can also use PVA for the contact surface with the printing platform to make the finished product's surface more delicate.

If you're using a single-nozzle 3D printer, you can print this too! The contact surface between the excavator and the printing platform will just be flatter and sharper. Thanks to the clever design of the original creator, this mini excavator doesn't require support material, and its structure can still rotate.

To test it out for everyone, we also didn't use support material on the structure, and it worked perfectly! The printed excavator is very flexible; not only can the arm and wheels rotate, but the body can also swivel left and right!

Of course, we can't miss the eggshell part. It also has a movable structure without support. After printing, you can shrink the excavator and put it into the eggshell. There's a small clasp on top of the eggshell, so it won't pop open when pressed.

Just how mini is this excavator? When all its parts are collapsed, its footprint is only 2.5 square centimeters! It fits perfectly on a ten-dollar coin. We're using a ten-dollar coin for scale so everyone can truly appreciate its size.

Isn't it exciting? A new year, new toys – we need some surprises! Below is the file link, so go ahead and print it with your 3D printer! If you don't have your own 3D printer yet, we also offer 3D printing services using various original manufacturer machines, providing you with the same high quality!

We will continue to share new information and practical tests related to 3D printing. All the latest news will be posted on our fan page!
