[3D Printing Application] T-Glase for increased transparency!

Lately, while helping many 3D printing enthusiasts print their models, I've noticed that everyone seems very interested in transparent 3D printing materials! However, there also seems to be quite a few misunderstandings about transparent materials. Today, 3DMART will introduce the characteristics of transparent 3D printing materials and how to set up your 3D printer to achieve better transparency! First, let's introduce today's material: T-glase

In a previous article I shared,[3D Printing Application] Honey, I made the product transparent! I introduced how to make objects more transparent by applying AB glue. Today, I'll share how to increase transparency by adjusting 3D printer parameters.

Machine used: Ultimaker2 3D printer
Nozzle diameter: 0.6mm (Olsson Block)
Layer height: 0.3mm
Wall thickness: 0.6mm (one perimeter)

The parameters affecting transparency are layer height, nozzle diameter, and wall thickness. The rounder the shape of each printed filament line, the less light is refracted. Therefore, a higher layer height and a larger nozzle diameter can increase transparency. A thicker wall means more perimeters are printed, which increases light refraction and reduces transparency. So, a thinner wall thickness provides better transparency.

The image below shows the effect of different wall thicknesses:

Nozzle diameter: 0.4mm (Olsson Block)
Layer height: 0.2mm
Wall thickness: Left 0.4mm (one perimeter); Right 0.8mm (two perimeters)

The image above clearly shows the differences caused by wall thickness.

I hope the above text and images provide a better understanding of transparent 3D printing materials!
