Ultimaker continuously seeks to improve its products, materials, and services. Here are some of the latest updates we want to share with you, the results of our recent efforts – new materials and kits that will enhance your 3D printing experience.
New Materials
In the world of 3D printing, no two materials are the same. To achieve good printing results, choosing the right material is very important. Here's a brief overview of some new materials to give you more options for your work.CPE+.
CPE (co-polyester): Tough, chemically resistant, and dimensionally stable. To make this material even more distinct from its predecessors, CPE+ is now officially launched! CPE+ offers 10 times the toughness and temperature resistance, making it a very reliable material for small-batch production or functional part prototyping.
PC.
Our PC material (polycarbonate) allows you to print objects with high strength and toughness. After testing, it showed no deformation even at high temperatures of 110˚C. It is an excellent choice for printing molds or functional parts that require high temperature and strength resistance.
Nylon.
Nylon is renowned for its excellent mechanical properties, including very good tensile strength, compressive strength, and wear resistance, while producing lightweight finished products. If you need to create wear-resistant and tough finished products, nylon is a good choice.
TPU 95A.
This versatile material is well-suited for industrial applications and manufacturing. Similar to rubber and plastic, it offers flexibility, corrosion resistance, and high interlayer adhesion, making it easier and faster to print mechanical parts, tools, or fixtures.
New Cura Version Released
Ready to experience new materials with Ultimaker? The new version of Cura 2.1.3 includes new material options, along with many advanced functional settings, making it perfect for use with our new material selections.Download 2.1.3: https://ultimaker.com/en/products/cura-software
The new Cura 2.1.3 adds parameters suitable for different materials, making it easier for you to use various materials after downloading. To improve user quality, we will no longer add features to Cura 15.04, only making minor bug fixes and adjustments.
Cura 2.1.3 will also update your 3D printer firmware. In addition to updating the software, we recommend updating the firmware as well. Here are some of our new corrections:
1. Ultimaker 2/2+ Fix: We fixed an issue where the print head of Ultimaker 2 and 2+ might hit the right side of the machine or the glass clips during printing.
2. Heated Bed Temperature: The heated beds of Ultimaker Original+ and Ultimaker 2+ can now heat up to 100˚C~115˚C.
3. Individual Retraction Settings: All Ultimaker 2+ printers can now set retraction individually for different materials and nozzles.
4. Heated Bed Position: For safety, we increased the distance between the heated bed and the nozzle during heating.
5. Added New Material Options: Updated printing parameters suitable for new materials.
Advanced 3D Printing Kit
Ultimaker's Advanced 3D Printing Kit allows your machine to print in a more stable condition and produce better results. Strong adhesion sheets: A new alternative to glue, ensuring better adhesion between your object and the heated bed!Door panels: Installing door panels can increase the stability of the 3D printing environment - more stable temperatures and higher success rates, significantly improving print quality. The advanced kit will be available in September and is recommended for use with new materials.
New Ultimaker Original Add-ons
Now that Ultimaker Original+ has replaced Ultimaker Original, we have almost stopped producing upgrade kits for Ultimaker Original, including the following products:◎ Extruder Drive Upgrade
