[3D Printing News] GVSU Library - A Hub for Emerging 3D Printing Technologies

The Atomic Object Technology Showcase at the Mary Idema Pew Library Learning and Information Commons within Grand Valley State University,
is an initiative by the Information Technology Department to provide faculty, staff, and students with an immersive and engaging environment to interact with, discover, learn about, and share how
innovative technologies can enhance teaching and improve student learning at GVSU.

When the Showcase opened in the fall of 2013, the ultimate goal was to provide the campus community with an innovative space featuring the latest technologies. The Showcase offers exploration of 3D printing,
augmented reality, virtual reality, gestural computing, and mobile computing.
Additionally, it is dedicated to promoting the application of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).
The concept of this space was needed to allow Grand Valley State University students and staff to interact and learn about innovative educational technologies, making the Atomic Object Technology Showcase
a pathway for learning.
As technology continues to change our world, the focus is on utilizing technology in the classroom. From the beginning, 3D printing has been a significant technology that has had a positive impact on the educational
experience at Grand Valley State University. Currently, the Showcase uses Ultimaker 2+ and Ultimaker 2 Extended + to serve our campus community.

Our small but mighty "Maker Showcase" provides all disciplines with centralized access to 3D printing, integrating 3D printing into curricula to create innovative opportunities.
Across different disciplines, the Showcase provides 3D projects for departments in marketing, engineering, art, and medical sciences.
Whether these projects are for new product development or works of art, this Showcase can provide students with the 3D capabilities they need.
Thanks to the 3D printing resources provided by the Showcase, innovative education is flourishing at Grand Valley State University.
