[3D Printing Application] "Overwatch":One shot, one hit to your heart!
"Overwatch" is a multiplayer shooter game by Blizzard Entertainment, featuring a complete game story and character styles. Among them, the sniper "Widowmaker" is a cool and ruthless character in the game, and with her exclusive sniper rifle "Widow's Kiss," she'll hit you right in the heart with one shot!

This life-sized "Widow's Kiss" has a maximum length of 140 cm and requires an adult to hold it with two hands. It was created by 3D printing individual parts and then assembling them. The 3D printers used for this project were all dual-extruder systems: Ultimaker S5 and Ultimaker 3. They used a high-precision layer thickness of 0.15mm, and the filament was PLA combined with water-soluble support PVA for printing.
The model itself has many intricate details. Even when printed in separate parts, it almost filled a six-person conference table. The color of the PLA we used was very similar to the blue-purple color of "Widow's Kiss." Since it's a virtual gun from the game, not only the exterior shape but also dedicated assembly parts like screws and fixed shafts needed to be 3D printed.
We first completed the handle and the barrel separately before assembling the entire piece. During the production, we admired the developers' dedication and meticulousness, as even the unseen internal connection structures after assembly respected the game's style.
The realism of the finished product is astonishing. The only thing missing is that we didn't install an infrared light inside. We are very grateful to the developer for generously providing the complete open-source 3D model files, which allowed us to actually complete it with a 3D printer.
When the barrel is not extended, the total length is about 110 cm. When extended, the total length can reach 140 cm. Because the gun is so large, we even made a dedicated stand to hold it. Additionally, we placed a regular 15 cm ballpoint pen as a scale and a handsome gentleman for human-scale comparison, so everyone can get a sense of its actual size.
