【3D Printing Application】Mini Jurassic Park! Movable Structure, No Supports Needed!
Children's Day is fast approaching! Have you thought about what gifts to prepare for your kids? Quickly 3D print an articulated dinosaur to create the coolest gift. Even if you don't have children, you can indulge your inner child. Let's take a look at our crazy T-Rex in action:

Now, let's introduce this articulated mini-dinosaur that doesn't require support material, and also help you become more familiar with the new Cura 4.0 interface. There are many other dinosaur models available online, so you can download them according to your preferences. (Further reading: Don't be shy about free resources! How is this articulated structure made? Why doesn't it need supports? If we import it into Cura 4.0, we can see the sliced layers of the object and the 3D printing process. You can see that the articulated structure uses horizontal rods that pass through holes to interlock. The overhanging parts, due to their gradual angle, small drop, and small object size, do not cause PLA to droop. The design uses a concept similar to a chain, with sufficient gaps reserved in the middle, allowing the 3D printed object to move without PVA supports.

You can play with them right after taking them out. The two dinosaurs look simple and cute, but their designs are full of clever details, such as eyebrows for expression or the scales on the T-Rex's back. The precision of the Ultimaker allows us to present all these details to you.

If you want to make it a keychain, you can drill a hole in the tail, or there are many cute versions online with hats, bows, etc. Choose your favorite as your Children's Day gift!

Although this 3D printed model has an articulated structure, it is still very stable when standing. There's a clever little triangle at the bottom that helps the 3D printed object stand more firmly. If the 3D printed object is not printed with the bottom facing down, an inner curved corner or groove can be designed at the bottom. This prevents fluctuations in the standing contact surface from affecting balance and allows the object to stand more stably anywhere, similar to the function of the concave bottom of a wine bottle.
Don't let the little T-Rex at home be unhappy on Children's Day! 3D print your own mini Jurassic Park now! Or consider a 3D printing pen, which is safe for children to use, and let them unleash their creativity.
