3DMART is honored to have an exclusive interview with JSPB, a Taiwanese foam dart blaster manufacturer popular in the US. JSPB is an abbreviation for JET STREAM PLASTIC BLASTER,
which fires foam darts.
The JSPB foam dart blaster series is designed and manufactured in Taiwan, and marketed globally as DIY kits, making it a unique Taiwanese success story.
All JSPB products are self-developed, designed, and manufactured using Ultimaker 3D printers to create blaster toy kits, sold online.
Most customers are from the US and are players in the Nerf foam dart blaster community, mostly adults who enjoy modifications.
The most popular products currently are the JSPB B&B MINIHOPPER, JSPB PRO2, and JSPB EXTRA LIVES.
JSPB B&B MINIHOPPER: A foam dart blaster that combines 3D printing with PVC pipes, an entry-level DIY kit.
JSPB PRO2: A larger blaster with more 3D printed components, suitable for advanced players, offering precise shooting and three tactical rails.
JSPB EXTRA LIVES: An extra lives kit for organizing events and competitions, it's a life-sensing device, a base that can be attached to the arm to hold balloons.
The balloons will instantly burst when slightly impacted by pressing against a sharp point on the base.

Design Process
JSPB founder, Lin Lian-Yi, due to his love for shooting sports and DIY, combined these two interests to design foam dart blaster DIY kits.
Foam dart blasters are very safe because they shoot foam darts, which do not cause damage indoors. Before 3D printers were used for production, traditional techniques were required,
using a hacksaw to cut wood to create parts for connecting pipes, which required large machines and manual labor.
JSPB's adoption of 3D printing technology enables bolder designs. The 3D printed accessories combined with pipes require consideration of many mechanical designs. Over approximately one year,
continuous research and refinement were carried out
until satisfaction was achieved before proceeding to the next mass production stage, avoiding excessive costs and eliminating the risk of inventory buildup during mass production.

JSPB's exclusively designed JSPB PRO2 foam dart blaster Ultimaker 2Extended+ printing (long barrel)
When choosing a 3D printer, Ultimaker 2 was considered for easier troubleshooting and subsequent maintenance. Ultimaker offers free part replacement for malfunctions under warranty, and parts can be replaced independently after the warranty expires. The ability to replace nozzles is particularly appreciated, providing more flexibility in use, and the quality of parts printed by Ultimaker printers is consistently stable and accurate.

JSPB currently uses a total of 4 Ultimaker 3D printers, which can operate simultaneously to print various parts. The image shows 3 printers in operation.
JSPB's Future Development
Currently, JSPB's products are primarily sold overseas (US). In Taiwan, they need to be accompanied by educational activities, such as designing one's own sights and then printing them out, allowing participants to take home their completed creations.
Therefore, more focus will be placed on education in the future.
In the future, more free and paid digital products (3D model files) will be available for download, allowing overseas consumers to save on shipping costs and print at home. Currently, an all-3D printed model accessory that requires no screws or springs is also under development.
