[3D Printing News] 2019 Mega Maker Day! What are makers playing with?

The 2019 "Mega Maker Day" concluded successfully last week! In addition to bringing together many makers, craft markets, and startups, the event expanded due to overwhelming registrations. Many of the latest industrial technologies are gradually making their way into the mass market. What exciting and interesting new things were there at the event? Let's take a look back now!

This year, in addition to the two indoor halls, there were also many outdoor stalls, mainly featuring handicrafts and experiential activities. It was very suitable for both adults and children to explore together, and the venue was packed with people after the weather cleared up.

Even the food stalls used recyclable cardboard tables and chairs, which perfectly fit the theme of "Mega Maker Day" and attracted many people to try them out. On-site testing showed their sturdiness comparable to regular plastic tables and chairs, with a solid structure and light weight. We hope they can be widely applied in the future.

In addition to the performance stage, the outdoor plaza also featured a robot vehicle competition led by students. Many vehicles were equipped with robotic arms, capable of tasks such as stacking and picking up objects. These young students are the rising stars of Taiwan!

Furthermore, " Spider Maker," a Taiwanese material supplier known for continuously advancing 3D printing materials, showcased even more colorful matte lollipop samples this time. The finished products were surprisingly delicate, with almost no visible 3D printing texture characteristic of FDM. The superhero series made with matte black PLA filament was also printed using an Ultimaker 3D printer!

Many of the booths in the exhibition hall featured handmade jewelry made with CNC machining, laser processing, and 3D printing. On the second floor, there were customized clothes and T-shirt making, where you could pick a design and have it printed on the spot, ready to wear. The speed was astonishing.

Among the many industries, there were also realistic food models, such as those seen in major department stores. The moment of fried rice being tossed in a pan, suspended in mid-air, was particularly eye-catching, and just looking at it made one's mouth water.

This time, 3DMart also participated in the exhibition, and of course, our on-site interactive activities were not to be outdone. We brought the latest Ultimaker S3 3D printer, FormBox, and Vaquform DT2, attracting many parents with young students to experience making custom coasters with vacuum forming machines, as well as various industrial samples produced by 3D printing.
