【3D Printing Application】GPS Global Positioning System, Navigational Devices Ready to Use After Printing!

TwoNav, a GPS manufacturing company specializing in outdoor GPS devices, offers a range of outdoor navigation instruments for hiking, cycling, trail running, and even aerial sports. To allow for greater design freedom, and to accelerate the design process and time-to-market, they integrated 3D printing technology into their production line to reduce manufacturing costs.

When engaging in outdoor activities, users wearing TwoNav equipment with GPS technology can ensure accurate positioning to enhance safety. It also caters to everyone from beginners and professional users to mountain rescue professionals. The
TwoNav team uses the BCN3D EPSILON W50 3D printer and the BCN3D Sigma D25 3D printer, combined with PLA 3D printing filament, to produce the casing for GPS devices.

BCN3D printing utilizes IDEX (Independent Dual Extruders) technology, a 3D printing technology where two independent nozzle systems can move separately, ensuring that their paths do not interfere with each other during operation.

For example, when 3D printing GPS casings in two different colors, while extruder A is printing, extruder B will move aside and pause, ensuring that the systems do not interfere with each other. Alternatively, one can choose to use only one extruder, preventing filament from the other extruder from contaminating the printed part, thereby effectively improving the quality of the finished product.
"Print and Use" Customization: Immediate Testing and Modification
With 3D printers, it's also possible to produce final use parts. For instance, the image shows a bicycle mount for a GPS device. Not only can the shape be customized, but once completed, it can be sent directly to customers for testing. If any details need adjustment, the team can immediately make changes and modifications.

Precision Consistency: Industrial-Grade Assembly Quality
Using the BCN3D Sigma D25 3D printer to create molds for aligning components, these are then assembled in an industrial press machine. The 3D printed device casing is inserted, and finally, the glass panel is aligned and secured. After the device casing is complete, the most critical chip template needs to be fixed. This step severely tests the precision of the 3D printed casing. Utilizing BCN3D printing technology significantly improves the efficiency of the assembly process.

"Since integrating 3D printing technology into our production line, it has significantly boosted our development and production processes, and the quality of the finished products is truly impressive! I would recommend the BCN3D series of 3D printers to any company that needs to accelerate their time-to-market," said Adrián Guillamón Aparicio, Development General Manager at TwoNav.

The BCN3D series of 3D printers features a large print volume and an Independent Dual Extruder System (IDEX), enabling twice the efficiency while maintaining industrial-grade quality.
