[Vacuum Pressure Forming] Silicone flip-flop mold duplication, build your own production line, no outsourcing!

【Vacuum Pressure Forming】Silicone Molded Flip-Flops, Create Your Own Production Line, No Outsourcing!

The essential path for product development: how to solve the cycle of testing, making mistakes, correcting, and retesting? Silicone molding to produce flip-flops, create your own production line, no outsourcing! This is how Beta Design, an industrial design firm in London, did it, from scratch to completion, see it now:

In product development, prototyping is the most critical stage, and it often turns out to be more complex than initially imagined, requiring a continuous cycle of testing, making mistakes, correcting, and retesting until the goal is achieved. Typically, testing products involves significant time and money spent on outsourcing to industrial factories, with back-and-forth testing until the results meet design requirements.

"Beta Design," an industrial design studio in London, also had to overcome similar challenges when developing footwear. Especially with the variety of shoe materials, repeated testing was necessary. To replace the traditional outsourcing production process, the team used the Mayku Multiplier vacuum pressure forming machine, coupled with a 3D printer, to establish their own production line for developing various shoe types, while also considering ergonomic and aesthetic designs.

First, design a 3D shoe model and use an FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printer, along with high-temperature resistant 3D printing filaments such as ABS and HIPS, to create reusable molds.

Place the 3D-printed flip-flop model into the Multiplier desktop pressure former, pair it with flexible vacuum forming sheets, activate the machine's heating function. Once the specified temperature is reached, the vacuum forming sheet will soften and drape. Then, press down the handle to begin vacuum forming. The entire process takes just 3 minutes! By repeatedly inserting the material sheets, you can quickly and endlessly replicate flip-flop molds, achieving mass production of identical shapes.

The Multiplier desktop pressure former boasts four tons of downward pressure, allowing it to perfectly adhere to models even with 90-degree right angles. Once cooled, demolding is easy. (Click here to see: Custom chocolate desserts, infinitely replicated in 5 minutes!)

(After vacuum forming with the Mayku Multiplier, the inherent flexibility of the sheet material allows for better demolding results.)

To find the most suitable flip-flop material, Beta Design began testing a large number of material effects. They injected various materials into the vacuum-formed shoe molds, then demolded them after the material solidified. Repeating this simple step allowed them to quickly produce all the shoes they needed for experimentation and arrange them for evaluation!

Traditional silicone mold casting is slow and costly, taking "days" to complete a single mold. With the Mayku Multiplier pressure former as their primary tool, the Beta team can complete a mold in "5 minutes." Even if modifications are needed, they can be made immediately and production can continue, significantly accelerating the company's product development speed.

The Mayku Multiplier pressure former offers industrial-grade quality while maintaining a compact desktop size, making it suitable for small and medium-sized businesses and independent creators. It meets the demands for custom part molds and enables batch production in a short time. 3DMart offers more than just 3D printing; contact us now to learn more about the detailed applications of vacuum forming machines.
