[3D Printing Materials] High Temperature Resistant Filament - ColorFabb HT

World-renowned filament manufacturer ColorFabb's new filament - High-temperature resistant HT ignites your Maker spirit!

ColorFabb_HT is a 3D printing material very suitable for advanced applications, especially for printing objects that require durability, toughness, and temperature resistance. It also has FDA certification, is styrene-free and BPA-free, making it a safe 3D printing material.
The first layer printing settings for ColorFabb_HT are very important. To prevent warping, it is recommended to heat the build plate to 110~120°C. For printing some special structures, tools such as BuildTak can also be used.

Heated build plate
ColorFabb_HT is recommended for printing medium to large objects with a heated build plate to prevent warping. You don't need to worry about warping causing delamination, just ensure that the bottom layer of the object adheres flatly to the platform. For small to medium-sized objects, it is recommended to use 110~120°C. For large-sized or large-based objects, auxiliary tools (such as BuildTak) may be needed to increase adhesion and prevent warping.

Print temperature
The print temperature will be set according to the layer thickness and print speed. Generally, for a layer thickness of 0.2mm and a print speed of 50mm/s, the recommended print temperature is 260~280°C. If the layer thickness is 0.1mm and the print speed is 50mm/s, the recommended print temperature is 250~270°C. Not all 3D printer nozzles can heat up to 250~260°C, please confirm whether your machine can be used before use.
PS. Filament flow (mm3/s) = layer thickness * nozzle diameter * print speed

Cooling
For best strength, it is recommended not to use a fan during printing, as this can result in better layer adhesion and less warping. If your object's structure does not have overhanging slopes or sharp cones, then printing without a fan can also produce good results. Alternatively, turn on the fan when printing the outer appearance and turn it off when printing the internal infill.

Bridging (Overhang)
Most slicing software allows you to set the speed, cooling, and even flow rate during bridging. It is recommended to slow down the print speed during bridging to prevent the unsupported molten material from being damaged by the fast-moving nozzle. Slowing down the print speed can also maintain the strength of the molten material and allow the filament time to cool in mid-air.
A 100% fan setting can help the first layer cool better.
If the molten material is still being damaged despite the above settings, you can try increasing the flow rate or the perimeter of the bridge.

Retraction
Before adjusting retraction, please ensure that you have found the appropriate print temperature and speed for your machine. The PLA retraction settings are very suitable as an entry point for various machines, or you can adjust them according to the parameter table.
Simplify3D's Coasting feature allows the print head to stop extruding before moving, reducing pressure build-up and making retraction more efficient.

Minimum layer time
This function allows each layer of filament a certain time to cool, but how much to set depends on the properties of the filament. For HT, it is recommended to set the minimal layer time to 8~10 seconds.
