[3D Printing News] Ultimaker's Integrated Technology: A "Soft" and "Hard" Approach

【3D Printing News】Ultimaker's Integrated Technology: "Soft" and "Hard" Go Hand in Hand

Formnext, the international exhibition for additive manufacturing and 3D printing technologies, officially opened yesterday in Frankfurt, Germany. Ultimaker simultaneously announced software updates and print settings developed in collaboration with renowned material companies. This provides customers with a wider range of 3D printing filaments and a streamlined, simplified process, suitable for applications from prototyping to production.

.12 new collaborative filaments added: Covering leading global brands

In addition to previously announced material partners Owens Corning and DSM, we are delighted to expand our collaboration with BASF, Clariant, and DuPont. The new settings and filament properties are as follows:

.BASF: PP GF30, PET CF
Suitable for environments requiring chemical resistance, such as pipe applications or under-the-hood automotive applications. PET CF is an easy-to-process carbon fiber reinforced material suitable for parts requiring impact resistance, lightweight, and strength, such as drones.

.Clariant: Exolit® flame retardant PA6/66, Exolit® 20% glass fiber flame retardant PA6/66
Can be used in switchgear requiring flame retardancy and mechanical properties, such as electrical enclosures, electronic, and automotive parts. PET-G is a tough, chemical-resistant polyester with higher heat resistance and can be 3D printed efficiently.

.DSM: Novamid® ID1030 CF10 PA6/66, ID1030; Arnitel® ID2060HT, ID2045
Novamid® ID1030 CF10, PA6/66 is reinforced with carbon fiber, allowing for tougher and stiffer 3D printed parts, with a printing speed similar to general plastics; Novamid® ID1030 is a PA6/66 material suitable for durable applications requiring good mechanical properties.
Arnitel® ID2060HT is a high-performance TPC, suitable for continuous high-temperature and chemical-resistant environments; Arnitel® ID2045 is a flexible TPC, suitable for applications from footwear to midsoles, and even electronic devices.

.DuPont: Zytel® 3D1000FL, Hytrel® 3D41000FL
Zytel® 3D1000FL is an unreinforced polyamide with ultra-low shrinkage; Hytrel® 3D41000FL is a polyester elastomer with Shore hardness D60, offering similar properties in x, y, and z directions, suitable for industrial, automotive, and consumer products.

.Owens Corning: XSTRAND™ GF-30 PP, XSTRAND™ GF-30 PA6
Glass fiber reinforced polypropylene (XSTRAND™ GF-30 PP) and polyamide 6 (XSTRAND™ GF-30 PA6) can be used for any application requiring high-strength, durable parts that can withstand harsh, extreme temperature environments, whether indoors or outdoors.

The latest settings for the above 3D printing filaments are now available for download via the Marketplace in Ultimaker Cura 3.6.
