Ultimaker is constantly looking for new ways to improve its products.
Recently, Ultimaker has been working hard to expand the range of materials it can use,
develop new versions of Cura, and find new solutions to optimize users' 3D printing experience.
Below is an overview of the new products we launched in June this year!
Ultimaker PP: For Functional Prototypes and Durable End-Use Parts
Polypropylene (often abbreviated as "PP") is one of the most widely used plastics on Earth.
It is a favorite of engineers and manufacturers worldwide, with a very wide range of industrial applications.
With its toughness and excellent fatigue resistance, it is the best material for creating functional prototypes and end products that require durability.
Due to its low material density, it can produce lightweight parts with high strength and low weight.
It also has good temperature resistance, electrical resistance, and chemical resistance. It can withstand temperatures up to 105°C, can also act as an electrical insulator, and hold various alkalis and acids - including industrial cleaners.
The material's properties are semi-flexible and translucent, with a low friction coefficient and a smooth surface, making it suitable for the production of electronic products and moving parts.
Ultimaker PP can be well applied to Ultimaker 3 and Ultimaker 2+ series 3D printers.

Due to its high fatigue resistance, PP does not break when bent repeatedly. PP allows you to prototype with materials close to the final product; it is translucent, chemically resistant, and tough.
Ultimaker 3: Optimized 3D Printing Experience
To ensure you can enjoy a professional and reliable 3D printing experience, Ultimaker has conducted many tests and provided 3D printing configuration parameters for CPE+, PC, and TPU 95A.
PVA material has also been updated, improving the reliability of printing PLA with PVA, and adding the CPE/PVA combination.
And we also added a new nozzle size for PrintCore.
While the existing 0.4mm PrintCore can print very fine results, the new 0.8mm PrintCore enables faster printing efficiency - perfect for quickly making models and prototypes.
Depending on your needs, the 0.8 mm PrintCore can be used with various parameters for printing. The new nozzle is still plug-and-play, maintaining Ultimaker's consistent ease of use.
AA PrintCore is designed to print with Ultimaker's main materials (like PLA, ABS, CPE, etc.).
The BB PrintCore has a slightly different geometry inside its nozzle, allowing for smoother printing with water-soluble PVA.
When PVA is combined with other materials such as PLA, nylon, or CPE, you can easily print more complex structures while maintaining the aesthetic integrity of the object.
We will also be releasing the latest Ultimaker 3 Advanced 3D Printing Kit.
This kit is specially designed to ensure consistent and high-quality results when printing materials such as ABS, PP, CPE+, or PC on the Ultimaker 3 or Ultimaker 3 Extended.
The front enclosure protects the printer from airflow and ensures a stable ambient temperature inside the printer.
The platform sticker provides better surface adhesion, and we recommend using this sticker when printing with PP, CPE+, or PC materials,
but it should not be used with TPU 95A - because TPU adheres very well during printing, but it will be difficult to remove it once finished.
Firmware Version 3.7.1
The latest firmware update includes many significant improvements.
One of its most important new features is that users connected via WiFi can restart prints directly from Ultimaker 3, without having to go through Cura anymore.
Another important feature is to help users clean PrintCore.
This option provides users with detailed steps on how to perform a hot pull or cold pull, techniques you occasionally need to use for nozzle cleaning.
The last highlight of the new firmware version is an improved material changing process.
When changing materials, Ultimaker 3 automatically clears all residue, ensuring that the PrintCore is completely clean when new material is loaded.
Cura Version 2.6.1
Based on user feedback from the previous BETA version, we have released the latest version of Cura - 2.6.1.
The most important new features include:
●New installations no longer overwrite old versions: Cura 2.6.1 creates a new folder upon installation,
which will not overwrite existing configurations and parameters of older Cura versions.
●Better support adhesion: The new Cura version improves support adhesion for PLA / PVA and Nylon / PVA.
The new Cura will also support the CPE / PVA combination.
●3D ModelAutomatic arrangement: It will be easier to arrange models when placing multiple models or copying a single model.
With the automatic model arrangement function, Cura will automatically rearrange your objects on the print platform, ensuring that objects do not fall outside the print area.
The new version of Cura also supports PP material and the latest 0.8 mm PrintCore.
The Most Reliable Professional 3D Printer
Ultimaker is a reliable professional desktop 3D printer, offering industrial-grade materials and easy-to-operate software, designed to provide professionals with the best solution for prototyping, tooling, and small-scale production.
With these product and feature updates, 3D printing will become even more convenient for you.
