【Laser Processing Application】"Living Hinge" Laser Cutting for Super Flexible Wooden Book Covers!
The MUSE laser engraver has a very diverse range of uses, and wood is one of the most common materials. Through the crisscross design of the living hinge structure, the stress on the wood caused by bending can be changed, allowing stiff wood to bend freely and resist breaking without special treatment. Searching "Living Hinge" online will bring up many different design styles, enabling a wider range of finished products from wood materials.

Open the MUSE laser engraver's dedicated free online software, RetinaEngrave v3.0, where you can see a visual representation of the cutting or engraving content. The operation and parameter adjustments are very simple. On the right, you can adjust laser power, speed, size, etc. On the left are the layers corresponding to different pattern areas. For example, engraved image content and cut lines will be on different layers, or you can adjust advanced settings yourself.

Press the preview function to see the maximum range the laser head will travel without cutting. After placing the material, you can start engraving! As shown in the animation below, the pattern will gradually emerge. This particular pattern size can be completed in about ten minutes, which is very fast!
The widest side of the MUSE laser engraver is less than one meter. The baseplate can be removed to allow for an infinitely expanding cutting area below (for example, placing a door panel or a guitar for engraving). Compared to typical industrial machines, it is very compact and performs exceptionally well. Operation is easy using the color touchscreen on the right, making work more convenient.
The cut edges are very clean and clear. When removing the finished book cover, simply press it gently to release it. The animation clearly shows the effect of the bent parts, and the book cover on the right even fell off by itself!
Let's show you how to turn the pages. You can bend it with just one hand, and the original resistance of the wood is almost gone. After threading the strap through the holes in the baseplate, your exclusive book cover is complete, all in just over ten minutes.
