【3D Panorama Scan】NTUST 3D Printing Practical Workshop: Panoramic Virtual Reality for Remote Teaching!

[3D Panoramic Scan] NTUST 3D Printing Workshop, immersive panoramic virtual tours for remote learning!

Struggling with remote classes during the pandemic? Explore with 360-degree panoramic tours and experience an immersive presence even from a distance! The "3D Mart Creative Workshop" of NTUST's Department of Materials Science has broken away from traditional teaching methods. Here's a 3D panoramic view of the NTUST creative workshop:

National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) is a very renowned technological university in Taiwan, comprising six colleges including Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Management, Design, Humanities & Social Sciences, and Applied Technology. It aims to cultivate advanced engineering technology and management professionals and is a dream school for many students!

To enable students to learn various 3D printing technologies and unleash their potential, NTUST's "Department of Materials Science and Engineering" specially applied for the Ministry of Education's program to optimize technical workplaces, establishing a 3D printing practical workshop (3D Mart Creative Workshop). Here, students can use various technical equipment such as 3D printers, 3D scanners, laser engraving machines, and CNC milling machines to bring their creative ideas to life.

At the 2020 3D Printing Exhibition, 3DMart met Professor Huang Hsin-ping of NTUST's Department of Materials Science. We were honored to collaborate using Matterport spatial scanning to create a panoramic scan of the department's 3D printing workshop, transforming it into a 360-degree virtual panoramic space.

"Due to the pandemic, the school switched entirely to online courses, making it difficult for students to physically attend and operate equipment for lab courses. By using panoramic scanning technology to assist remote teaching, not only do students feel more present, but the results of the Matterport panoramic scanned space can also be accessed anytime via network sharing, making teaching explanations easier!" said Professor Huang Hsin-ping of NTUST's Department of Materials Science.

The 3D Printing Workshop is equipped with a wide variety of technical equipment, including 3D printers, 3D scanners, laser engraving machines, and CNC milling machines. The workshop space is expansive, with areas dedicated to group discussions, practical equipment operation, computer use, and product display right from the entrance, allowing students to freely unleash their creative sparks!

The 3D Mart Creative Workshop houses various Phrozen series resin 3D printers, including Phrozen Sonic Mini, Sonic Mighty, Shuffle, and Transform models; FLUX series laser engraving machines, and Roland milling machines, providing students with industrial-grade equipment for use on campus.

Enter the Matterport panoramic space, and by simply clicking on the markers on the ground, you can freely navigate through the 3D printing workshop. With simple mouse controls, you can adjust angles up, down, left, and right, visiting every detail of the space in high-definition.

"The 3D panoramic scan achieves an effect similar to Google Street View, and we were impressed by both its ease of use and the final virtual reality experience!" said Professor Huang Hsin-ping excitedly. NTUST's Department of Materials Science's 3D printing workshop actively organizes various courses and activities, while also allowing students to try their hand at organizing them. Through the process of preparing these courses and activities, students can not only train 3D printing related talents but also develop leadership qualities!
