Duke Doks, a motion graphics designer from Madrid, Spain, loves to use different creative methods to develop products. He has also designed various unique LED neon-shaped lights. This time, he tried to use 3D modeling software for the first time to design a hexagonal light fixture.
We place Duke's 3D model file into the Ultimaker Cura slicing software. By adjusting the actual printing position of the model in the software, we can complete both the upper and lower shells of the light fixture in one 3D printing operation!
With just one 3D printed model and a FormBox vacuum forming machine, you can infinitely replicate a large number of vacuum-formed molds, which is extremely convenient and fast!
Duke routed the LED light strips in the 3D printed bottom cover of the light fixture, then arranged all the hexagons according to his preference. Finally, he covered them with the vacuum-formed shell, and turned on the power to the LED light strips. The hypnotic visual feast was about to begin!
The lampshade made from white plastic sheets, when covering the LED light strips, creates a hazy glow effect that is visually very soothing. It fits perfectly as an interior design ornament, a night light, a party favor, or a work of art!
