[3D Printing Applications] Reunite for Mid-Autumn Festival, make your own mooncakes!

【3D Printing Application】Reunion for Mid-Autumn Festival, make your own mooncakes!

The annual Mid-Autumn Festival is here again! Are you tired of egg yolk pastries and pineapple cakes? It's so hot, let's have some snow skin mooncakes! Single people don't have to worry, snow skin mooncakes can be made without an oven or microwave! This time, we also used a 3D printer to make exclusive mooncake molds. Let's try it now!
First, prepare the following ingredients (serves about 5 people):

Cooked glutinous rice flour 125g
Cooked cornstarch 30g
Powdered sugar 20g
Red bean paste 200g
Matcha powder 15g
Unsalted butter 20g
Drinking water 200g
One mooncake mold

If cooked glutinous rice flour and cooked cornstarch are difficult to buy, heat the flour in a microwave for two minutes until thoroughly cooked before making! (Adjust the time according to your microwave's power)
First, sift the cooked glutinous rice flour and matcha powder, then knead them with room temperature butter. Then, gradually add water and mix well.

Continue kneading until the dough is elastic, then wrap it in plastic wrap and let it rest for about 30 minutes to relax the dough, which will make it more elastic.

At this time, take out the filling we bought and roll it into individual balls that are about half the volume of the mold. The other half of the volume will be left for the mooncake skin later.

While waiting for the mooncake skin, the mooncake mold in the Ultimaker is almost finished printing! This time, we used PLA with PVA.

It looks beautiful after removing the supports. After washing, it can be directly used for cold pressing and molding! The push rod at the back makes it easier to extrude the snow skin mooncakes.

We used the same method to make two types of mooncake skin: original and matcha. You can also add different flavor powders according to your preferences!

Roll the mooncake skin into a ball and then flatten it. Wrap the filling completely with the mooncake skin like a dumpling, and pinch off any excess skin at the end.

Then, coat the entire mooncake with cooked cornstarch, and you can press it into the mold! Remember to press firmly so that the finished product is not uneven!

Delicious snow skin mooncakes are that easy to make. Chill them in the refrigerator, and the mooncake skin will be delightfully soft and chewy. During the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, let the whole family try making them!
