[3D Printing News] Cura 4.1 Beta Available for Download, Firmware Update Synchronized!

[3D Printing News] Cura 4.1 Beta Available for Download, Firmware Simultaneously Updated!

Since the last release of the slicing software Cura 4.0, Ultimaker has received a lot of user feedback and has now launched the Cura 4.1 beta, which includes new features and various improvements. There are more setting panels for free positioning in the interface, small improvements such as: update notifications for plugins and parameters in the Ultimaker Marketplace, better printing stability, etc. Let's guide you through the upcoming new features:

Improved User Experience
In addition to the new splash screen, a series of setup steps will be displayed, including: welcome, user agreement, options to add a 3D printer, and options to register and log in with an Ultimaker account.

More Layout Freedom
Based on feedback from the previous version, the restrictions on the 3D printing parameter panel have been removed, allowing it to be dragged to any position for easier operation. Hidden and displayed panels and parameter positions will remain unchanged. Double-clicking at the top of the layout will reset them to their initial positions.

Material Print Guide
Before using more advanced 3D printing materials, you can quickly and easily get more information through the thumbnail next to the selected material. Clicking it will guide users to the "Print Guide" from the print profile.

Ultimaker Marketplace
The new Cura 4.1 will include a notification feature in the Ultimaker Marketplace, making it easier for us to know when new plugins and print settings are available.

Enhanced Adhesion Settings
Depending on the 3D print model, sometimes using a prime tower can enhance adhesion, which is one of our commonly used features. In the new version, the prime tower can be used independently. When the adhesion type is "None," "Brim," or "Skirt," the prime tower can also be enabled. However, this feature is currently not applicable to the "Raft" adhesion type.

Support Patterns
The new version is expected to add different support patterns, similar to helical structures, which can allow water-soluble PVA to dissolve faster, and compared to other support modes, it is easier to remove partially dissolved support material in one piece using pliers.

Stability Improvements
This version includes a series of stability improvements, such as fixing several issues with the monitoring screen. Now, when manually adding a printer via IP address, a notification will appear that the printer will be paired with an Ultimaker account for cloud connectivity. Mac OSX users will also benefit from these performance enhancements. New firmware version 5.2.11 has also been updated simultaneously, correcting some Wi-Fi connection issues.

*Since this version is still in beta, if you are 3D printing an important project, it is still recommended to use the currently released official version of Ultimaker Cura 4.0.
