【3D Printing News】Cura 4.2 Beta Released: Try it Now, Completely Free!

Ultimaker has released the new Ultimaker Cura 4.2 Beta, and it's available for immediate download! Here are the new features and user experience improvements that Cura 4.2 will offer:

Orthographic View
As a professional user, you need more control over 3D view types when preparing for printing. Cura 4.2 introduces the orthographic view feature - the same type of view used in professional CAD software, so you can easily compare the dimensions of your model with your CAD design. Find this option under "View > Camera View > Orthographic View" (the actual name and location may vary in the official Cura 4.2 release).

(Orthographic view is commonly used in CAD design; it has now been added to Cura 4.2 to accommodate users accustomed to general modeling and drawing.)

Object List
Identifying corresponding filenames and models is easier thanks to the new pop-up list in the main interface. Clicking on a model in the preview workspace will highlight its filename; conversely, clicking directly on a filename will select the corresponding model. To accommodate individual user habits, this window will remain in its last used state.

(Use the new object list to easily identify different items in the preview window.)

Retraction Prime Amount
During retraction and long movements, some filament characteristics may "ooze" more. The new Cura 4.2 will add a new fine-tuning setting to the prime amount during retraction to maintain precise extrusion width when re-printing, resulting in a more perfect object.

Specific Flow
By adjusting the filament flow in specific functions (such as wall thickness, infill, supports, prime tower, and adhesion, etc.), you can better control your 3D printed models.

Slice Button Delay
After clicking the slice button, some computation time is required, and using other functions at this time might not reflect the adjustment effects. Therefore, the new version will add a "Processing" screen to more clearly inform users to wait for the slicing computation.

(After clicking slice, "Processing" will be displayed. Adjustments made during this time may not take effect.)
