【3D Printing Application】3D Printed Breast Molds for Fashion, Human Scans Create Business Opportunities!

The fashion industry is fiercely competitive today. Only by continuously pursuing unique innovations can one break through in a saturated market. A Dutch fashion designer, Lidewij van Twillert, who is passionate about fashion and sewing, used 3D printing and human 3D scanning technology to design a curved support system that conforms to every woman's breast shape – "Curvearis".

Women's bras come in a wide variety of types, from sports bras to underwire and seamless bras. The common thread is that they are worn close to the body for long periods, so comfort and fit are absolute top priorities. Lidewij uses a 3D scanner to perform a 3D scan of the client's bust, capturing the unique curves and dimensions of each breast shape.

Since everyone's breast shape and size are different, a common problem with bras on the market is discomfort caused by underwires not conforming to the breast shape. To create a well-fitting and comfortable bra, Lidewij's production team used 20 Ultimaker 3D printers to conduct nearly 400 tests and modifications, ultimately leading to the birth of "Curvearis"!

Curvearis's double-curved design evenly distributes breast weight pressure, allowing for comfortable wear even for extended periods and perfectly conforming to various breast shapes, feeling like a part of the body. In addition to being designed as women's lingerie, it can also be applied to various clothing designs. When covered with soft fabric, it can effectively alleviate skin fatigue.

Through 3D printing and 3D scanning technology, the 3D modeling process is effectively streamlined, and production line processes are automated, thereby improving operational efficiency and quality. The combination of the fashion industry and industrial technology has successfully created a unique application of strength and beauty!
