We have just released Ultimaker Cura 3.6 for Windows, MacOS, and Linux. As mentioned before, Ultimaker recently collaborated with leading filament manufacturers, so we are providing you with quick updates!
Expand the software by conveniently managing plugins and filament settings (in the Marketplace option).
Download 3D printing filament configuration files from the Marketplace, such as those from the five collaborating companies mentioned earlier; each setting file is created and tested by their experts to seamlessly integrate with Ultimaker 3D printers.
Combining these functional filaments and print settings with the CC Red 0.6 ruby nozzle for the Ultimaker S5, these composite materials can achieve the best results, such as newly developed flame-retardant and ESD-safe materials, which will push the boundaries of current applications.
In addition, Cura 3.6 also adds a new infill type: Gyroid infill, as well as other new features and stability improvements, elevating the quality of 3D printed objects to a higher standard. You can click on the official free download link at the end of the article.
Here are the 12 new and improved features:
．Enhanced Slicing Engine
Gyroid Infill: This new infill pattern interlaces each layer, providing equal strength distribution in every physical direction, and saving 3D printing time and material usage.
When these fully connected internal structures are used with water-soluble supports, enclosed parts can dissolve internal supports using only a single drain hole, or fill empty spaces with reinforcing materials (such as epoxy resin); you can find Gyroid infill in the "Infill Pattern" dropdown menu under custom mode.
．Support Brim
When using support material, a brim can now be generated within the support infill area of the first layer; support brims are printed beneath the support material, unlike regular brims with structural material. Using this new setting can significantly improve the adhesion of the support to the build plate, making 3D printing more stable.
．Rebuilt Settings
We have made structural changes under the application's engine to better test future storage modes and settings interfaces; these improvements increase slicing speed and make future development easier.
．Compatible with Ruby Print Nozzle CC Red 0.6
While leveraging Ultimaker S5 settings files and these composite materials, the new ruby nozzle—CC Red 0.6—is now officially available. This improved 3D print nozzle works with abrasive and composite materials and will inspire a range of industrial applications.
．Marketplace
The Marketplace offers a quick and easy way to add plugins to Ultimaker Cura, helping to streamline the rapid prototyping workflow; it not only uses advanced engineering materials but also automatically matches the ideal settings for perfect 3D print quality. Switch by selecting "Marketplace" in the menu and using the field selection.

．Firmware Detection
We have improved and tested the firmware update code to receive update notifications and access the latest firmware and Cura Connect features.
．Toggle Full Screen Mode
It's now easier to use full-screen mode and switch with keyboard shortcuts: Command + Control + F (MacOS) or F11 (Windows and Linux). If you prefer using a mouse, select the new option in the "View" menu.
．Configuration Error Reminders
Older versions of Ultimaker Cura would display an error dialog box when affecting user profiles or resetting to factory default settings, but would not warn that this would simultaneously affect the current 3D printer and print settings; this has now been clarified to prevent any unexpected situations.
．Select Cooling Fan
If your 3D printer has multiple fans, you can now specify which cooling fan to use. This new feature can be found in the "Machine Settings" tab under "Extruder."
．File Name and Layer Display
The M117 command has now been added to the GCODE generator to enable real-time information about print job file names and layer numbers, which can be effectively used if the 3D printer has a touch image display like the Ultimaker S5.
．New Third-Party Definitions
We now support more third-party 3D printers, including Anycube 4MAx and Tizyx K25.
Ender-3 settings in third-party printers: The 3D printer has been adjusted to the correct size of 235 x 235 mm, and the start sequence and print nozzle position have been corrected when clearing or finishing printing.
．Continuous Improvement and Enhanced Stability
In this version, MacOS compatibility errors have been fixed, memory leaks in the Monitor page have been resolved, the possibility of print nozzle collision with printed objects has been reduced, sudden failures when using supports have been fixed, and layer display issues have been resolved, among others.
