First, let's take a look at the Christmas gift we're sharing. Besides the gift box itself, the ribbon can be rotated freely, and it even has a real locking function! Be sure to keep the key safe, or it won't open!
This time, we used the Ultimaker S5 for 3D printing. Thanks to its dual-nozzle system, we were able to print the small interlocking structures of the box using water-soluble supports. At the same time, the Ultimaker S5 offers high-precision 3D printing quality, precisely retaining a tiny space in the center of the ribbon. Therefore, we also incorporated a support-free rotating mechanism, allowing the ribbon to be adjusted to any desired angle.

All parts combined take about 7 hours to 3D print. Normally, we would put it in water for a perfect dissolution; however, because the structure this time is very small, the support simply comes off cleanly with a pull.

The parts that need assembly are: the box body, the lid, a set of two ribbons, and a set of locking parts.

First, interlock the locking parts as shown in the picture below, and test the smoothness of their rotation.

Then, attach it to the protruding tenon at the bottom inside the box. It looks like a small person with built-in antennae. The locking mechanism is complete, it's that simple!

Next, put anything you want to give to the other person inside, for example: chocolates or dried flowers.

The ribbon has two parts. Align the keyholes with each other and put on the first layer of ribbon, with the decorative one on the outermost layer. And that's it, you're all done!

For the advanced version, you can first place rings, earrings, necklaces, cash, etc., underneath, so that after the recipient finishes the chocolates on top, they'll get a big surprise, fully packaging your little secret. 3D printed heart lock box, this Christmas is all about the engineer's romance!

3DMart will hold a 3D printing technology sharing session on December 21st. In addition to hands-on practice with Ultimaker 3D printers, we have also invited Otsuka Information Technology to demonstrate how to use Autodesk Inventor to achieve optimized design and extend it to manufacturing, and to complete products using 3D printers.
We'll help you master the basic hardware and software technologies of 3D printing, and give away this special "Christmas Heart Lock Box" to attendees. Spaces are limited, so register quickly!
