The new Bambu Lab H2S is a machine many 3D printing users have been eagerly awaiting – a single nozzle, high-end Core XY print head, and a larger print volume.
It boasts a massive print volume, with a 340 x 340 mm print bed that can be described as "helmet-sized."
That's right, it's an H2D without the fancy dual-nozzle version.
It features all the second-generation technology of its predecessor, such as a servo motor extruder, advanced airflow system, and AI detection throughout the filament path.

This unboxing features the H2S Laser Combo, equipped with a 10W laser.
If you purchase the non-laser version of the H2S, you can still upgrade to the laser version later, but not to the dual-nozzle setup.
Bambu Lab officially recommends that if you want a dual nozzle, you should buy the dual-nozzle H2D.

Unboxing
The Bambu Lab H2S comes with everything you need to set up the printer, plus some extra parts.
The printer comes pre-loaded with test models and utility print files for making handmade tools.
It includes blades and screws for making a DIY scraper.
Additionally, it comes with a printed quick start guide and instructions on how to use the slicer and mobile app.
A QR code is printed on the inside of the box lid, which you can scan to watch the unboxing video.
And of course, most importantly, the AMS 2 Pro, and the 10W laser head and cutting head.

Big Space, Big Choices
The H2S is the single-nozzle version of Bambu Lab's excellent H2D 3D printer.
It's a fully enclosed printer with an aluminum and steel chassis and a plastic casing.
It can withstand higher temperatures than the previous X1C, with a nozzle temperature of up to 350°C and a print bed temperature of up to 120°C.
The air filter has also been improved to reduce airborne particulates in the room.
The best improvement in the H series is that this machine features adaptive airflow, which allows it to both heat and cool the print chamber simultaneously.
This means you can finally print more than just PLA and other "low-temperature" filaments.

The H2S can have a laser version, meaning this printer has the same flame-retardant interior as the H2D.
While the H2D's standout feature is its single-hotend dual-nozzle, this unique feature also takes up some print space.
The H2S can fully utilize its 340 x 340 mm space, making it Bambu Lab's largest print size machine to date.
Bambu Lab has adopted A1-type nozzles for the new H series, but they are not exactly the same.
These nozzles are easier to change as they use a snap-and-magnet attachment. All wiring remains on the tool head.
Fast and Accurate
In testing, the H2S's speed was impressive, with the H2S printing up to 30% faster than the X1C.
The print head can reach a maximum speed of 1000 mm/s and an acceleration of 20,000 mm/s².
So, while the acceleration is the same as the X1C, the print speed has effectively doubled, resulting in an actual speed increase of about 30%.
Like the H2D, the H2S's single nozzle can reach 350°C, making it ideal for printing engineering-grade materials like ASA and nylon.
The H2S is a fully enclosed environment, which helps ensure optimal printing conditions for these materials, and the filtration also helps remove any toxins from the materials during printing.

Bambu Lab has equipped the H2S with a series of sensors that can detect if a print is going wrong and stop it before problems arise.
And when filament runs out and needs to be replaced, the process of resuming printing is very accurate, eliminating worries about common layer shift issues.
A highlight of this extruder is that it's equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous servo motor, which increases extrusion force by 67%, and the filament extrusion process is exceptionally smooth.
When comparing the print results of the H2D and H2S, there is essentially no difference.

Along with the significant new features of adding a laser head and cutting head to the machine, the H2S also has the option to use a visual encoder board to correct errors after long-term use.
Especially if you are using it for professional product design or any work with strict dimensional requirements, it is essential to use this feature regularly. The visual encoder can be used for any print requiring 50-micron precision.
Like the H2D printer, the H2S can also use the AMS Pro 2.
The AMS 2 Pro is fully compatible with the original AMS and AMS HT.
You can also connect multiple AMS modules together to expand print colors beyond 4 filament choices.

Multifunctional Production Center
The 10W laser engraving head of the H2S Laser Full Combo can easily handle most cutting and engraving tasks.
Thanks to the integrated air-assist system, plywood or acrylic up to 5mm thick can be cut cleanly, leaving clear and sharp edges without charring or scorching.
The bird's-eye camera's top-down view and real-time tracking ensure positioning accuracy within 0.3mm, allowing for perfect integration of the "print-then-cut" workflow.
Furthermore, it is equipped with a protective enclosure, flame detection sensor, and a door-open stop mechanism, providing you with a multifunctional production center – it's not just a 3D printer, but a machine that combines printing, engraving, cutting, and drawing.
