[3D Scanning] Unboxing the Creality Raptor Pro 3D Scanner

【3D Scanning】Unboxing the Creality Raptor Pro 3D Scanner

Creality's Raptor Pro makes industrial-grade 3D scanning more accessible than ever, combining impressive detail with surprising ease of use.
Bringing real-world objects into a computer for use in 3D software, game development, or even 3D printing was once something only a few could do, as the technology to achieve it was prohibitively expensive.

But in 2025, this technology is more widely available than ever.
And Creality, a company known for its 3D printers, laser cutters, and other maker technologies, is leading the charge with its new Creality Raptor Pro 3D scanner.

Out of the box
The Raptor Pro's hard-shell case includes the scanner, manual, calibration card, USB cable, power cord, and a set of scanning points for marking objects to be scanned.
It's well-packaged and contains everything needed to start scanning, and the overall feel is very solid and well-made.

Out of the box, the Creality CR-Scan Raptor Pro is an impressive piece of technology, with a physical presence that looks far more expensive than its actual price.
This scanner is a handheld, dual-mode device offering metrology-grade accuracy at an affordable price, suitable for small studios or independent creators.

It combines a 22-line cross-blue laser array, a 7-line parallel laser mode, and near-infrared structured light pipeline.
This device can scan objects ranging from finger-sized parts to entire cars with an accuracy of up to 0.02 mm and a working range from 5 mm to 4000 mm.
In practice, it's powerful and fast, capable of capturing clear details on hard surfaces.
Its performance is impressive, and as you start setting up and calibrating, you quickly discover the immense potential of a 3D scanner like the Raptor Pro.

High Speed and High Fidelity

Creality positions the Raptor Pro as a high-speed, high-fidelity device, offering a scan speed of 660,000 pts/s in laser mode, up to 60 fps, and 24-bit color capture in NIR mode.
It also boasts a volumetric accuracy of 0.02 mm + 0.08 mm/m.

For a device in its class, it's very easy to use, and as long as the scanning mode and scene settings are perfectly matched to the task, it generally delivers consistent detail capture and speed.
While this scanner offers two object capture modes, the blue laser pipeline is where it shines.
It can read dark metals and black plastics without overspray, revealing scratches and abrasions that consumer-grade structured light devices can't match in terms of detail.

Equipped with a near-infrared (NIR) light source, the Raptor Pro operates at high speed with precise color capture, making it the preferred choice for creators working with large indoor spaces or vehicle parts, where speed and ambient texture are crucial for tracking.
In blue laser mode, whether it's the 22 cross lines (for wider coverage) or the 7 parallel lines (for maximum accuracy), the Raptor Pro focuses on precision and scanning of tolerance-sensitive parts.
The texture and color levels captured by the Raptor Pro are impressive, making it incredibly useful for independent game designers looking to elevate asset quality and enhance the overall polish of their projects, or even for filmmakers or 3D artists.

If you want to use the blue laser mode, you'll need to use marker stickers.
While the software can automatically remove them from the mesh, both placement and cleanup take time.
For small to medium-sized parts with tight tolerances, the improvement in edge quality and surface accuracy is evident.

For large scans or mixed-surface scenes, the near-infrared mode allows for markerless scanning to maintain speed and provide color capture, though it's not as faithful in fine geometry as the blue laser.
The Raptor Pro maintains good tracking, especially with carefully placed markers.

High Cost-Performance Ratio

The functionality and performance level of this device are truly surprising.
With a suggested retail price of 75,600 NTD, the Raptor Pro is neither cheap nor expensive, but it strikes a balance between high-end professional tools and consumer-oriented products that often feel limited in functionality.
Just a few years ago, a similar item would have cost significantly more, and to match today's professional-grade configurations, you'd be looking at more than double the price.

It's exciting to see such technology become widely available, inspiring new creators and makers to push boundaries they once thought impossible just a few years ago.
Notably, the Raptor Pro is priced lower than Creality's own high-end products, while offering a 24% speed increase over the original Raptor and maintaining its original accuracy.

This makes it particularly attractive to independent manufacturers, cosplayers, digital artists, and service agencies who need reliable capture without enterprise-level costs.
Its features, including the ability to scan black or ferrous surfaces without spray and an extended near-infrared working range of 4,000 mm, allow it to capture automotive parts and fixtures without complex preparation, while still maintaining an impressive level of detail.
For anyone needing sharp edge scans on mechanical parts, or scanning for game development or even 3D printing, the Raptor Pro's blue laser mode delivers the fidelity promised on the spec sheet, and when the scene is set up correctly with markers and overlap, it can be done quickly.
For larger scenes, indoor scenes, and full panels, the NIR mode's markerless workflow and color capture help maintain fluidity and reduce preparation.
